No partiality

No Partiality

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all, without finding fault. (James 1:5)

“Oh, God, if there is a God, please deliver me from this hellwas my desperate prayer on a cold, dark February night in 1966. God heard my heart cry, and throughout the next six months miracles transpired that made my deliverance possible. Soon I was living in a wonderful Christian boarding school, where I heard the gospel message for the first time. Jesus filled my heart with His redeeming love as I gave up my sins and experienced true salvation.

“If only I knew where to find Him” (Job 23:3) was a prayer of desperation from the tormented Job. The severity of his distress caused him to reach out to God for mercy and deliverance from physical pain and emotional turmoil. God looked down from heaven, “without finding fault,” eventually releasing Job from his mantle of suffering and generously rewarding him with family, land, and goods.

I have never suffered as Job, but a turbulent childhood has caused my spiritual journey to be very difficult at times. As I have traveled with Jesus, I have discovered a vital truth: All the riches of wisdom and knowledge are within my reach as I spend time in His Word. His wisdom becomes a part of who I am, for “He gives generously to all, without finding fault.”

Pray today for “first generation” Christians, as they learn to trust God's Word.
