Who is He?

 

오늘의 묵상 (요9:35~41)

 

 

35. 예수님께서 바리새인들이 회당에서 그 사람을 쫓아 냈다는 소식을 듣고 그 사람을 찾아 말씀하셨습니다. "너는 인자를 믿느냐?"

 

36. 그 남자가 대답했습니다. "선생님, 인자가 누구신지 말씀해 주십시오. 제가 그분을 믿겠습니다!"

 

37. 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하셨습니다. "너는 이미 그분을 보았다. 지금 너와 함께 이야기하고 있는 사람이 바로 그 사람이다."

 

38. 그러자 그 사람은 "주님, 제가 믿습니다!"라고 말하면서 예수님 앞에 무릎을 꿇었습니다.

 

39. 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. "나는 심판하러 이 세상에 왔다. 보지 못하는 사람들은 보게 하고, 보는 사람들은 보지 못하게 하기 위해서이다."

 

40. 예수님께서 이 말씀을 하실 때, 거기서 이 말씀을 들은 바리새인 몇 사람이 예수님께 물었습니다. "우리도 앞을 보지 못한단 말이오?"

 

41. 예수님께서 대답하셨습니다. "너희가 앞을 보지 못하는 사람들이라면 죄가 없겠지만, 지금 너희가 '우리는 본다'고 말하니 너희 죄가 아직 있다."

 

 

 

Who is He?

 

 

“Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.” (John 9:36)

 

 

Jesus ministered to multitudes, and His fame spread like a locust swarm. Even after being healed by Jesus, the blind man did not know who He was. This man represents the many people today in spiritual darkness. Some may even seek emergency assistance of food and clothing from local churches without real knowledge of Jesus and the freedom He offers.

 

I hear testimonies of adults who say they had never heard the gospel. With the abundance of churches and numerous radio and TV ministries today, this amazes me. Spiritual blindness prevents people from seeing and acting on the truth that has been right before them.

 

Christians can be blinded by assumptions. We can assume that those appearing to have it all together on the outside actually have it all together on the inside. Yet their lives may be filled with utter despair, and they may be clueless to the reality of Jesus.

 

God's love extends to each of us individually. He desires everyone to know Him, and the best way to do that is to learn about Him through His Word, and then ask Him to show you how to love and know Him better. That's a prayer He'll always answer!
