God can show his love by withholding

 

오늘의 묵상 (시103:1~11)

 

 

1. 내 영혼아, 여호와를 찬양하여라. 마음을 다해 그분의 거룩한 이름을 찬송하여라.

 

2. 내 영혼아, 여호와를 찬양하며, 그분의 모든 은혜를 잊지 마라.

 

3. 주는 나의 모든 죄들을 용서하시며, 나의 모든 질병을 고쳐 주십니다.

 

4. 무덤에서 내 생명을 구원하시고, 사랑과 자비를 베푸십니다.

 

5. 주는 좋은 것으로 나의 소원을 만족시켜 주시니 내가 독수리처럼 새롭게 힘이 넘칩니다.

 

6. 여호와는 억눌린 자를 위해 정의롭고 공평한 일을 행하십니다.

 

7. 그분은 그의 뜻을 모세에게 보이시고 그의 행동들을 이스라엘 백성에게 보이셨습니다.

 

8. 여호와는 자비롭고 은혜로우시며 화를 참으시고 사랑이 넘치는 분이십니다.

 

9. 그분은 항상 꾸짖거나 따지지 않으시며, 화를 오랫동안 품고 계시지 않습니다.

 

10. 그분은 우리의 죄값을 그대로 갚지 않으시며, 우리가 저지른 잘못에 따라 처벌하지도 않으십니다.

 

11. 하나님을 두려워하는 자에게 베푸시는 그분의 사랑은 땅에서 하늘이 높음같이 높고 위대합니다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

GOD CAN SHOW HIS LOVE BY WITHHOLDING

 

 

He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. (Ps. 103:10)

 

ONE reason we love God is that He does not give us what we deserve. If we cry out for justice, we must remember that a just treatment of our sins would condemn us. But David's psalm teaches us who God is. He is a God who forgives all our sins; heals all our diseases; redeems our lives from the pit; crowns us with love and compassion; and satisfies our desires with good things; all of this “renews our youth like the eagle's.”

 

God did not give us justice, nor do we want it. He gave us His love in the form of mercy and forgiveness, which unjustly burdens Jesus with our sentence of sin (death), and treats Him unjustly for our sake.

 

This takes our transgressions so far from us that they are like east from west. So, when we smother ourselves in guilt and shame, we need to latch on to the slowness of God's anger and ask for more of His mercy. In this we see David reminding us of Moses, because God covered him as He passed him by, so that even he would not be killed by God's glory. When he asked to see God, he did not know that this would mean his death.
