God Knows Our Secrets

by 복음과삶 2009. 7. 13.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.

From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;

from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-

he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.

No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.

A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.

But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.

to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.

We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.

WE WERE WAITING to board an airplane for a little vacation, and my husband decided to check out the nearest store on the concourse. He bought a couple of books, a candy bar, and a bottle of water. While shopping he saw a baseball-style cap he planned to purchase. His hands were full, so he popped it on his head, tag dangling, on top of his own hat and continued exploring. After paying for his new acquisitions and boarding the plane, I noticed the silly double hat look he was sporting and commented. He looked very uncomfortable and as he grabbed it off his head told me that he had forgotten about it and didn't pay for it. This very honest and honorable man felt awful and would later make it right. When a good citizen turns in a lost wallet or helps another in need, it is thought to be remarkable by others. Such people are called heroes and given great recognition. Why is decent behavior so extraordinary in our society that it is newsworthy? All too often we forget that even when no one else sees what we do, God is paying close attention. He notices the good and bad and cares deeply about how those choices affect our spirits because He made us.
