Scripture Text: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Romans 8:35-37 (KJV)
Friend, are you one that thinks that victory depends upon getting out of impossible situations? Did you know that we are already "more than conquerors" even while we are in the midst of what we would call "impossibilities"?
Stop and think about it. If you were ultimately defeated (and many of us think that we are), you would have to be separated from Christ's love for you. You would have to be cut off from the loving care of our "victorious" Lord. Now . . . is there any foe or any situation accomplish that?
The word of God asks the question, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" That question is then answered in Romans 8:38,39 where we read "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Did you get that? No spiritual foe can separate you from the VICTORIOUS LOVE OF GOD! Neither can any circumstance of impossibility separate us from our loving God. Let's look at a few of the impossibilities listed in God's word that make us feel as though we are being defeated. Romans 8:35,36 says
"Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: 'For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter' ."
WOW! That's pretty gruesome stuff wouldn't you say? Is it any wonder that we could feel defeated at times?
When troubles and pressures come; when we are faced with the lack of resources; we may be tempted to think that victory is somehow out of our reach. EVEN WHEN WE FEEL AS THOUGH WE ARE LIKE A LAMB BEING LED TO THE SLAUGHTER HOUSE, we may think that victory is just out of the picture. Nevertheless, the WORD SAYS, "in all these things we are more than conquerors."
Praise the Lord my friend, right in the middle of the impossibilities of life, we are already more than conquerors! In fact, in our distresses, we have already been made participants in a mighty, eternal, abundant victory, the victory that Christ accomplished on the cross and in the resurrection. "We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."
But be careful my friend. Our victorious position in any situation is not circumstantial. It is relational. We are united by our faith-walk to the VICTORIOUS onE, the Lord Jesus Christ! "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1Corinthians 15:57)
Let's pray...
Dear Father, I praise You for the constant provision of victory through Your triumphant Son. Lord, help me to view spiritual victory as a relational matter and not a circumstantial one. I thank You that through Christ I am already more than a conqueror right in the midst of my present impossibilities, for I ask This In Jesus' Name, Amen.
