Scripture Text: "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." Psalm 19: 1-14 (KJV)
More than a benediction, more than a poem or piece of prose, these words by David depict the heart of a man of worship. It was his sense of AWE as he looked heavenward and watched the stars seemingly conversing back and forth, their speech dancing through the sky as he sat amazed.
David could not see Him, but night after night in the wilderness tending his flocks, He felt His presence: the hand of an ALMIGHTY GOD who caressed the universe with the declaration of His Glory! Let's join him in worship shall we as we hear his solemn testimony of what he was feeling in his heart for the Creator God. (Music and Reading - Click on Listen Links above to hear entire broadcast)
The heavens, they declare the glory of God; Day after day they pour forth speech, and night after night they display knowledge. They are so spectacular that there is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out to all of the Earth; their words to the ends of the WORLD. And there in the Heavens, He has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a Bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion like a CHAMPION - rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the Heavens and makes it circuit to the other; NOTHING is hidden from his heat. And Oh My Lord - Thy Law is perfect... reviving the soul. Thy Statutes are trustworthy... making wise the simple. Thy Precepts Oh Lord are right... giving joy to my heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant giving light to my eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure... enduring forever. The Ordinances of the Lord are sure... and altogether righteous. They are more precious than Gold, than much, much pure Gold. They're sweeter even than the honey that comes from the comb. Oh By Them is Your Servant Warned: for in keeping them there is great reward... for who can discern his errors. Forgive my Hidden faults Oh God. Keep your servant also from willful sins: may they not rule over me. Then Will I be blameless... innocent of great transgressions. May all the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be pleasing in Your Sight, Oh Lord, My Rock and My Redeemer.
I can see him can't you? First looking up at the wonder of God's handiwork - seeing things with the naked eye that we perhaps could never see today due to the waste at the hand of God's most intricate and awesome creation - man. Then bowing in the corner of his Kingly balcony with head in his hands as he bows in worship before the Lord.
Oh my friend, take time tonight to step out on your balcony or drive to someplace where you can see the stars and the heavens clearly and re-read this message again. (Psalm 19) Worship the Lord and become mindful that He is the Potter and we are merely the clay. While the world spins on it's axis... bless the Lord for He knows every turn and has already choreographed how it all turns out. Remember how blessed you are - just to know that He Loves you so much and wants nothing more than to fellowship with you. Bow down today and WORSHIP HIM in the Glory of His Holiness.
Let's pray.
Father, I am overcome by your Glory and your Majesty. I am awestruck by the daily care that you have given to all mankind... even those who do not call you by Name. Oh God, My God, I Bow to You today and I recognize Your Power in my life; Your Provision; and Your Promise.., and I give You Praise. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
