CONFIDENCE TO ENTER

 

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith. (Hebrews 10:22)

 

THE DOOR OPENED. I stepped into a majestic, spacious room. The exposed beams curved above me, and the chandeliers glittered brilliantly. Multiple windows lined the walls with damask curtains. The tables were covered with heavy linen and set with real china, real silver, real crystal, and real flowers. I glanced down at my worn blue jeans and rumpled T-shirt. This restaurant was too ritzy for me. I turned to leave.

An elegant waiter appeared from the shadows. A tray in his left hand was held high over his head. The glass pitcher dripped with the precipitation from ice and cold water. “Please, be seated.” He indicated a chair that was heavier than my wooden bedstead but just as padded. “Would Madame like a drink?”

“Yes,” I mumbled, dropping into the seat. “Water, please.” I looked down. I was wearing a glimmering robe of white silk!

This parable describes what happened when the Holy Spirit sanctified [Forgive my ignorance of Wesleyan doctrine, but is “sanctified” the correct term here? Isn't she talking about salvation rather than sanctification?] me. I didn't deserve His blessings. I wasn't prepared to accept His grace, but He seated me among the best: Moses, King David, Job, Peter, Paul, Mary, and Joseph. I became His guest of honor, and His love shined into me. No longer do I fear asking Him for anything. My generous Father owns the Universe.
