Jesus loves even me

JESUS LOVES EVEN ME

. . . the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort . . . (2 Corinthians 1:3)

 

            I HAVE TWO CATS. They're both nice but have very different personalities. The younger one is a sweet, friendly kitty who loves to be with us wherever we are. But the older cat has an unusual way about her. She never seems to be happy. She always looks worried. We pet her and snuggle her and try to convince her that we love her. But she just doesn't look like she believes it.

            I sometimes feel a little like Muffin. For some reason I have a hard time believing that anyone could really love me. It is especially hard for me to truly believe God loves me. After all, He knows everything about me—even my secrets. How could He really love an imperfect person like me?

            Often when I'm feeling unsure about God's love for me, the words of a song will lift my spirits. Just simple phrases of God's grace remind me that God accepts me just as I am.

            One of the newer worship choruses puts it this way: “He sees the depths of my heart and He loves me the same.” Those words comfort me every time I sing them. God does love me. Even me.
