Because he came

 

오늘의 묵상 (눅11:29~32)

 

 

29. 무리가 모였을 때에 예수께서 말씀하시되 이 세대는 악한 세대라 표적을 구하되 요나의 표적 밖에는 보일 표적이 없나니

 

30. 요나가 니느웨 사람들에게 표적이 됨과 같이 인자도 이 세대에 그러하리라

 

31. 심판 때에 남방 여왕이 일어나 이 세대 사람을 정죄하리니 이는 그가 솔로몬의 지혜로운 말을 들으려고 땅끝에서 왔음이어니와 솔로몬보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있으며

 

32. 심판 때에 니느웨 사람들이 일어나 이 세대 사람을 정죄하리니 이는 그들이 요나의 전도를 듣고 회개하였음이어니와 요나보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있느니라.

 

 

 

 

 

 

BECAUSE HE CAME

 

 

Now one greater than . . . is here. (Luke 11:31–32)

 

 

THE BRILLIANT, HEAVENLY STAR that shined over Bethlehem more than two thousand years ago led shepherds from nearby hillsides and, ultimately, magi from a faraway place to the Savior. God's promise of a Redeemer had been fulfilled. The sign was Jesus himself—Christ, the helpless, yet divine, newborn baby in a manger. The long-awaited Messiah was there, and they could seek Him, bow down, and worship Him.

 

Jesus came to fulfill God's laws taught by ancient prophets. Affirming Jonah's message and Solomon's wisdom, He moved among the people as God's perfect Son. He was the sign in the crowd, bridging the gaping chasm between the old and new covenants. Holding tightly to tradition and genealogy, they could not recognize Him and the new, eternal Kingdom. Again, He came to those He dearly loved, His own, and He was rejected. The precious gifts of love, forgiveness, grace, and redemption were left unwrapped. And yet,

 

Because He came . . . I am forgiven.

Because He came . . . I am free of sin's condemnation.

Because He came . . . I have peace and purpose in life.

Because He came . . . I take joy in serving Him.
