Their will and God's will

 

오늘의 묵상 (시105:1~11)

 

 

1. 여호와께 감사하며, 그분의 이름을 부르십시오. 그분이 행하신 일들을 모든 나라에게 알리십시오.

 

2. 주께 노래하고, 그분께 찬양을 드리십시오. 그가 행하신 놀라운 일들을 전하십시오.

 

3. 그분의 거룩한 이름은  영광스럽습니다. 여호와를 찾는 자들은 마음이 기쁠 것입니다.

 

4. 여호와를 찾고 그분의 능력을 간절히 구하십시오. 그분 곁을 떠나지 마십시오.

 

5. 그분이 행하신 놀라운 일들을 기억하고, 그분의 기적과 그분이 선언한 심판들을 생각하십시오.

 

6. 그 종 아브라함의 후손들이여, 곧 택하신 백성, 야곱의 자손 이여,

 

7. 그분은 여호와 우리 하나님이십니다. 그분은 정의롭게 온 세상을 다스리십니다.

 

8. 그분은 자기의 언약을 영원히 기억하십니다. 그가 하신 말씀을 대대로 지키실 것입니다.

 

9. 그분은 아브라함과 언약을 맺으셨습니다. 그분은 이삭에게 맹세하셨습니다.

 

10. 그분은 그 언약을 야곱의 백성에게 법으로 주셨습니다. 이스라엘에게 영원한 언약으로 주신 것입니다.

 

11. “내가 가나안 땅을 너희에게 주어, 그 땅을 너희의 소유가 되게 할 것이다.”

 

 

 

 

 

THEIR WILL AND GOD'S WILL

 

 

He [Pilate] surrendered Jesus to their will. (Luke 23:25)

 

The Strong-Willed Child by James Dobson has been published, printed, and updated several times since its initial release in 1978. Why? Probably all parents think they have at least one strong-willed child. They're probably right. Even if we're weak-willed, we have the will to stay just the way we are!

 

Pilate “surrendered Jesus to their will.” Was this defeat? The bloody Savior waving the white flag of surrender before Pilate and the mob?

 

Early in the Lord's ministry, Nicodemus tried to make a case for Christ's innocence (John 7:51). Simon Peter was ready to lop off heads to protect Jesus (Luke 22:50; John 18:10). Pilate attempted numerous approaches to avoid capitulation to the Jewish leaders. But Nicodemus, Peter, and Pilate—leaders in their own right—were forced to (or chose to) “surrender Jesus to their [the crowd's] will.”

 

A strong will was at work as events leading to the Crucifixion gained momentum—but not just the mob's will. “It was the Lord's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,” wrote Isaiah (53:10). “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42), Jesus prayed to His Father hours earlier. The greatest Leader surrendered His will to His Father's. The Lord's perfect will was done.
