Door-to-Door Evangelists

마태복음 28:16-20 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

16. 열한 명의 제자들이 갈릴리로 가서, 예수님께서 지시하신 산에 이르렀습니다.

But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.

 

17. 그들은 예수님을 뵙고 절을 했습니다. 그러나 몇 명은 의심하기도 했습니다. 

When they saw Him, they worshiped HIm; but some were doubtful.

 

18. 예수님께서 오셔서 말씀하셨습니다. "하늘과 땅의 모든 권세가 내게 주어졌다. 

 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.     

 

19. 그러므로 너희는 가서, 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아라. 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주어라. 

 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

 

20. 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 지키도록 가르쳐라. 보아라, 내가 너희와 세상 끝날까지 항상 함께 있겠다." 

 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and Io, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

 

 

AS A YOUNG CHRISTIAN I was invited by an evangelistic team to do some door-to door witnessing. Glen, a friend from church, and I partnered together. We knocked on several doors and shared the gospel. Bored with my canned approach, I decided to rev up my style of sharing. When I knocked on the next door, a pretty lady with rollers in her hair greeted us. She looked at me inquisitively as I came alive with my new spiel. I bubbled, "Good morning. Do I have good news for you! I am not a Mormon. I am not a Jehovah's Witness. I'm a born-again Christian!" With a shocked, indignant ｅxpression she snapped, "Well, I am a Jehovah's Witness!" as she slammed the door in our faces. Glen, who is a serious sort of guy, laughed hysterically. We sheepishly retreated and headed home. Throughout the years, I've learned some things the hard way when sharing my faith and I'm still learning. God has commanded us to go, therefore, I'm putting my feelings of inadequacy aside and following those small promptings of the Holy Spirit. The most fruitful times of evangelism have come from trusting God each day to guide my words and actions rather than relying on my cleverness. It's the work of the Holy Spirit in a person's heart that causes them to believe.
