"Communicating With God"

Scripture Text: "The Lord is Nigh unto them that call upon Him in truth" Psalms 145:18 (KJV)

Good morning, and welcome to another edition of In The Garden.  This is Osella coming to you from St. Joseph.  Today I would like to share with you a few thoughts on "Communicating with God".

God longs for our communication.  In the beginning after creating Adam He would come and walk with him and talk with him.  How do we communicate with God.  We communicate with God through our praise, through worship, songs, prayers and through conversation.

In the morning after I drop off the grand children at day care and my daughter at college on my way to work I have time with God.  I talk with Him.  I talk with Him just like I talk to anyone else.  I tell Him what I am feeling.  If I am hurting I tell Him about it.  If I am sad or happy I share my feelings with Him.  Psalms 145:18 says "The Lord is nigh unto them that call upon Him in truth."  

When something is bothering one of our children and they seem down or distant, Wayne ask them what is wrong.  If they shrug their shoulders and say nothing.  He responds, "honey I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong."  Wayne always has a way to get his children to open up and talk to him.  When they have a problem they come to daddy.

You know what?  That's how God is, He just wants us to communicate with Him. He wants to hear from you and me.  He wants to know how we are feeling.  He wants to know if we are having a wonderful day. He wants to know if something is bothering us or if we are hurting and He wants to help us.

As a parent, I love it when my children or grandchildren come and just want to spend time with me and talk with me.  Just to enjoy the fellowship.  God wants that and we need it.  Learn to fellowship with God.  He is waiting to hear from you.  God bless you.

Let's pray:  Father thank you for loving us and for being there for us.  Teach us Lord to communicate with you.  Teach us to take time just to talk to you and let you know how much we love you.  Lord you love us and long to spend time with us.  You are there just waiting to hear from us.  Thank you. I pray that each of us will learn to open our hearts and soul to you.  In Jesus name I pray .  Amen
