Calm

 

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

CALM

 

I like what someone once wrote about faith: “Fear knocked on the door. Faith answered. No one was there!” When I was little, I had many fears: someone was under my bed at night, monsters were in the basement, ghosts were making creaky noises. I was a real scaredy cat. As I grew up, my fears changed, but fear was still there. I had financial fears, relationship fears, fears about physical health, popularity fears. Then one day I came across a verse from God’s Holy Bible that says, “Perfect love drives out fear” (1 John 4:18).

 

I realized that I was spending too much time focusing on the things that made me afraid rather than thinking of the things that calm me. Now, God’s love makes me more relaxed, more confident. The Bible also tells us that if God is for us, no one can stand against us. His love in my life allows me to stand and not faint when fears show up. God loves you today, my friend. Relax. Fear not, for He is with you wherever you go.

 

Live It!

Face a fear today. Stand up to it knowing that God loves you. Tell someone else about your adventure, and ask him or her to pray for you as you face your fear.
