Unchallenged authority

UNCHALLENGED AUTHORITY

 

“Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?” (Job 38:4)

 

Have you ever questioned God? I mean really taken Him to task over what you considered a bad situation? I have. Our Wednesday night study group recently studied the book of Job, and I identified with that man! I'm a Christian, upright, just, all those things, and I was being treated unfairly in a life situation. I reminded God of that several times. Then we reached this passage, and I felt like I had been spiritually reprimanded. Who was I to tell God that I was anything? I was born into sin and only have access to God through the blood Jesus shed on Calvary.

 Like Job, I had some repenting to do. God is in control, and He will not allow us to challenge Him without consequences. Don't allow yourself to become so full of your Christian activities that your sense of spiritual self-worth is elevated out of sight. Sometimes all the busyness actually interferes with our relationship with God. We hurry through our devotions, push prayer into the last slot before sleep, and wonder why God doesn't feel near.

            God is always there. He will help us carry the load and meet our responsibilities.
