He prevails

by 복음과삶 2007. 6. 22.

HE PREVAILS

But it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:21)

What's the difference between a plan and a purpose? The North American dictionary defines a plan as “a method of doing something; a scheme for achieving an objective.” It refers to purpose as “the reason for which something exists or for which it was made.” We all make plans. Whether they are plans for vacation, family, or the future, we are all guilty of scheming for things that satisfy our earthly desires. How often do you take those plans to the Lord and ask Him if they fit His purpose? There was a reason God created us. There was a purpose. We were created in God's image to worship Him.

Humankind fell under the curse of sin because of Adam and Eve. God's prevailing purpose became redemption. His desired effect was our salvation. The reason why we were brought into existence has not changed. We are to worship Him. Our plans should reflect His purpose. He wants all of us to live under grace.

God's plan and purposes are woven into a guideline for our lives through the written Word. It is the reason for our existence. His purpose for our creation will never change.
