23. 죄의 대가는 죽음이지만, 하나님의 선물은 우리 주 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 영생입니다.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in christ Jesus our Lord.

 

 

 

 IT WAS MORNING, somewhere in England, in the year 1540, and Anthony Parsons was being led to the stake where he would be burned because of his faith in Jesus Christ. Instead of crying or even praying, Anthony did a rather odd thing. When provided a last drink of water, he raised the glass high, and offered a toast to his fellow martyrs. "Be merry, my brethren," he said, "and lift up your hearts to God. For after this sharp breakfast, I trust we shall have a good dinner in the kingdom of Christ, our Lord and Redeemer." Anthony and his friends did die that morning, but the joyfulness of their sacrifice is still recalled centuries later. Most of us will likely not be asked to give up our lives for Christ today. But in whatever we are asked to give for Him our time, our skills, our finances, let us pledge to do it knowing that we have been given an incredible gift with a wonderful promise: eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord! And as you see others who are bound in their sin, heading toward a death that is without hope, share with them the gift of salvation that you've been given. Even if you just tell one person about Christ this weekend, what a joy it will be.
