How You Know

예레미야 31:31-34 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

31. "보아라. 날이 이를 것이다. 나 여호와의 말이다. 그 날이 오면 내가 이스라엘 백성과 유다 백성에게 새 언약을 세울 것이다.

"Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,

 

32. 그 언약은 내가 그들의 조상의 손을 붙잡고 이집트 땅에서 끌어 내던 때에 세운 언약과 다른 것이다. 나는 그들의 남편이 되었으나 그들은 그 언약을 깨뜨렸다. 나 여호와의 말이다. 

not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them, declares the LORD.

 

33. 그러나 내가 그 날 이후에 이스라엘 집과 언약을 맺을 것이니 나의 법을 그들의 마음속에 두고 그들의 가슴에 새겨 두어 나는 그들의 하나님이 되고 그들은 내 백성이 될 것이다. 

 "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.     

 

34. 그 날이 오면 각 사람이 자기의 이웃이나 형제에게 여호와를 알도록 가르칠 필요가 없다. 이는 모든 백성이 나를 알게 될 것이기 때문이다. 내가 그들의 허물을 용서하고 그들의 죄를 다시는 기억하지 않겠다." 

 "They will not teach again, each man his brothe, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

 

 

 HAVE YOU EVER wondered how you happen to know right from wrong without even thinking about it? If you're like me, you knew what was right and wrong from your earliest years. As a child, I had a problem with lying and stealing. I knew what I did was wrong, but all I worried about was getting caught. I did get caught many times but that rarely stopped me for good. That is until Christ came into my life. Suddenly, all that sinning looked truly ugly and disgusting. Something had happened deep inside me. Before, even though I knew right from wrong, I didn't much care about it unless I got caught. But when Christ took over, I had a whole new way of looking at sin. Doing wrong was not only wrong, but I saw how it hurt me and others, how it offended God, how it made the world a worse place. When God puts His law into your heart, you don't just get knowledge. No, now you receive insight and concern and a dose of love that makes you want to do what is right because it is right, it pleases God, and it helps others in the world. God's law in your heart changes your whole way of looking at life. Let God's words color everything you do, and you will be mightily blessed.
