Walking in the Way

 오늘의 말씀

 

이사야 26:3-8 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

3. 주께서 주를 믿고 따르는 사람에게 참된 평화를 주신다.

"The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.

 

4. 그러므로 영원토록 여호와를 의지하여라. 여호와는 우리의 영원한 반석이다. 

"Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.

 

5. 주께서 교만한 사람들을 낮추시고, 높이 솟은 성을 무너뜨리신다. 주께서 그 성을 땅바닥에 으깨셔서, 먼지로 만드신다. 

 "For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He cats it to the dust.

 

6. 가난한 사람과 억눌린 사람들이 발로 그 성을 짓밟을 것이다. 

"The foot will trample it, The feet of the afflicted, the steps of the helpless." 

 

7. 공평하신 하나님이시여, 주께서 의로운 사람의 길을 곧게 하심으로 그 길이 순탄합니다. 

 The way of the righteous is smooth; O Upright one, make the path of the righteous level.

 

8. 여호와여, 우리가 주님의 의의 길을 따르기를 기뻐하며, 주님의 이름을 영화롭게 하기를 원합니다. 

 Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, O LORD, We have of Your judgments, O LORD, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our souls.

 

 

 

DURING A RECENT MALL workout, I bumped into several people before I realized I was walking on the "wrong" side of the concourse. Others were walking to the right side, allowing oncoming walkers to pass on the left. I had been forging ahead on the left, creating a traffic hazard as I went. There are no traffic laws for mall walkers, but we've subconsciously accepted the rules of the road. Without such laws, whether written or unwritten, our lives, like the roadway traffic we deal with every day, become mired in chaos. Isaiah tells us that as we strive to keep God's law, our paths will become smooth. The Old Testament law instructed the people in how God wanted them to live. Time and again, the people failed to live up to the requirements of the law and broke their covenant with God. Chaos and misery ensued. Just like I disobeyed mall traffic laws, God's people were going against God's plan, and it wasn't working out. God made a new plan. He sent Jesus to save us from our simple mistakes and our willful sin. Under the New Covenant, God loves us unconditionally. It's a one-way street. We wait for God, receive His love, and pass it on to others in our daily activities.
