Taking Refuge in God

시편 37:37-40 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

37. 깨끗한 사람을 생각하십시오. 정직한 사람을 잘 보십시오. 평화의 사람에게는 미래가 열려 있습니다.

Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright; For the man of peace will have a posterity.

 

38. 그러나 악한 자들은 망할 것입니다. 악한 자들의 미래는 닫혀질 것입니다. 

But transgressors will be altogether destroyed; The posterity of the wicked will be cut off.

 

39. 의로운 자들의 구원은 여호와께 있습니다. 어려울 때에 여호와는 그들이 피할 요새가 되어 주십시다. 

 But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in time of trouble.

 

40. 여호와께서 그들을 도우시며 구원해 주십니다. 악한 자로부터 구해 내시고 보호해 주십니다. 악한 자로부터 구해 내시고 보호해 주십니다. 왜냐하면 그들이 여호와를 의지하고, 여호와께 피하기 때문입니다. 

The LORD helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, Because they take refuge in Him. 

 

 

 THE EARLY AMERICAN FRONTIER was a dangerous place. Settlers and explorers would choose a strategic location and establish a fort where they could take refuge in case of attack. Venturing out during the day, if they ran into trouble, they could return to the fort to save themselves and to rest up for the next day's challenges. Our relationship with God can be like that pioneer fort. Theworld we live in doesn't offer as many physical dangers as that of the pioneer, but contemporary life is full of spiritual dangers. Each day,we venture into a world that glorifies materialism, violence, and greed. It's our nature to want to be accepted, to fit in, and this tendency presents a clear danger to us.We renounce sin, but still the temptations surround us. When we need to retreat from these dangers, we can access God's stronghold.With His help, we can put up an effective defense against temptation and rest in God's care until we are ready for the next challenge. People who have never prayed before often pray for help when they are in danger. Although they have never cultivated a relationship with God, they instinctively call on Him for help. Think of the turmoil and uncertainty they could have avoided by establishing a relationship with God that works for them every single day.
