The Master Mentor

 오늘의 말씀

 

시편 25:4-9 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

4. 여호와여, 주의 길을 보여 주시고, 내가 가야 할 길을 가르쳐 주소서.

Make me know Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.

 

5. 주의 진리를 따라 나를 인도하시고 가르쳐 주소서. 왜냐하면 주님은 나를 구원하시는 하나님이시기 때문입니다. 내가 종일토록 주님을 믿고 바라봅니다. 

Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.

 

6. 여호와여, 예로부터 한결같으신 주의 크신 자비와 사랑을 잊지 마소서. 

 Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, For they have been from of old.

 

7. 내가 어렸을 때 지었던 죄들과 주님께 반항했던 잘못들을 기억하지 마시고 주님의 사랑으로 나를 기억해 주시기 원합니다. 오 주님, 주님은 좋으신 분이십니다. 

Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; According to Your lovingkindness remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O LORD. 

 

8. 여호와는 좋으시고 올바른 분이시기에 죄인들에게 바른 길을 일러 주십니다. 

 Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.

 

9. 겸손한 자들을 올바른 길로 이끄시고, 그들에게 주님의 길을 가르쳐 주십니다. 

 He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way.

 

 

 WHEN DENNIS BECAME the first child in Hawaii to receive a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters more than forty years ago, he was less than thrilled. Yet Henry, his mentor, never gave up on the rebellious boy. He taught Dennis to make model planes, played tennis with him, and emphasized education. Years later all those little moments paid off when Dennis joined the Air Force, went to graduate school, and eventually became the president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Hawaii. Henry's investment in Dennis came full circle. We also have a "Henry" who is committed to mentoring our hearts. King David recognized this when he asked for God's help and guidance. Just as Dennis never thought building model airplanes would lead to joining the Air Force, God may be doing things in our lives that seem insignificant now in order to prepare us for a future greater than we ever imagined. He has a purpose, plan, and desire for us to bless others. Our role is simply to respond to our heavenly Mentor's influence, listen to His voice, and trust His leadership. If you asked Henry what made the difference in Dennis's life, his answer would most likely be "love." God has created us to be transformed through relationships, and there is no connection more powerful or life-changing than the one between our hearts and His.
