엘리야의 심령과 능력 (THE SPIRIT AND POWER OF ELIJAH)

구약은 다음과 같은 영광스러운 예언으로 마무리됩니다. “보라 여호와의 크고 두려운 날이 이르기 전에 내가 선지자 엘리야를 너희에게 보내리니 그가 아버지의 마음을 자녀에게로 돌이키게 하고 자녀들의 마음을 그들의 아버지에게로 돌이키게 하리라 돌이키지 아니하면 두렵건대 내가 와서 저주로 그 땅을 칠까 하노라 하시니라”(말라기 4:5-6).

예수님은 요한에 대해 “만일 너희가 즐겨 받을 진대 오리라 한 엘리야가 곧 이사람이니라”(마태복음 111:14)고 말씀하셨습니다. 그리스도는 이렇게 말씀하시는 것입니다. “세례요한에게는 엘리야의 심령과 능력이 있다. 너희가 그것을 볼 수 있었으면 좋으련만.” 우리는 주님의 천사가 사가랴에게 그의 아들 요한이 “엘리야의 심령과 능력으로 주 앞에 먼저 와서 아버지의 마음을 자식에게 거스르는 자를 의인의 슬기에 돌아오게 하고 주를 위하여 세운 백성을 준비하리라”고 예언했던 것을 들었습니다.

나는 말라기의 예언이 또한 오늘을 위한 것이라고 믿습니다. 다시 한 번 하나님은 자신이 택하신 수많은 종들에게 엘리야의 심령과 능력을 부어 주실 것입니다. 그래서 이들 하나님의 사람들은 가족들의 회복을 일으키기 위해 강력하게 쓰임 받을 것입니다. 이혼들이 취소될 것입니다! 자녀들은 자신의 반항에 찔림을 받아 그들의 부모들에 대한 사랑이 회복될 것입니다.

이 예언은 지금 당장 우리 눈앞에서 성취되고 있습니다. 텍사스 한 마을에서 어느 얌전한 젊은 목사가 그 지역 학교에 있는 아이들의 구원을 위해 기도하기 시작했습니다. 하나님이 그에게 엘리야의 역동적인 심령과 능력을 기름 부으셔서 그의 지역학교의 수 백 명이 구원을 받았을 뿐만 아니라 그가 가는 곳마다 회복이 퍼져나가고 있습니다. 수 백 명이 아니라 수 천 명의 고등학생들이 마약, 알코올, 섹스, 반항에 대해 찔림을 받았습니다. 젊은이들은 그들의 부모와 화해하기 위해 집회에서 서둘러 집으로 돌아옵니다. 그들은 뿌리 깊은 증오심을 고백해왔었으나 이제는 통곡하며 회개합니다. 이는 전국으로 퍼져 나갈 것입니다. 하나님이 부모와 자녀들을 회복시킬 것을 약속하셨기 때문입니다.

다가오는 일을 보기 때문에 나는 아주 흥분됩니다! 너무 흥분되어 이 글을 쓸 수 없을 지경입니다. 무명의, 얌전하며 겸손한 하나님의 젊은 남녀들이 기적적으로 감동받으며 기름부음을 받고 있습니다. 그들은 초자연적인 임무를 부여받았습니다. “가서 회복시켜라! 주의 날이 왔기 때문이다. 마약과 알코올 같은 해충은 더 이상 젊은이들의 삶을 갉아먹도록 허용되지 않는다. 하나님이 해충들을 파멸시키실 것이다.”

 

 

The Old Testament closes out with this glorious prophecy: "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse" (Malachi 4:5-6).Jesus said of John, "If you will receive it, this is Elijah, which was for to come" (Matthew 11:14). What Christ was saying is, "John the Baptist has the spirit and power of Elijah upon him—if you could just see it." We are told the angel of the Lord prophesied to Zachariah that his son John would "go forth before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord" (Luke 1:17).

I believe Malachi's prophecy is for today also. I believe that once again God is going to put upon many of his chosen servants the spirit and power of Elijah. And these men and women of God are going to be mightily used to bring about a restoration of families. Divorces will be canceled! Children will be convicted of their rebellion and be restored in love to their parents.

This prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes—right now. In a Texas town, an unassuming young pastor began to pray for the salvation of the youth in the local schools. God anointed him with the dynamic spirit and power of Elijah and not only have hundreds in his local school been saved, but the restoration is spreading to schools wherever he goes. Not hundreds but thousands of high school students are being convicted of their drugs, alcohol, sex and rebellion. Young people are hurrying home from outreaches to make up with their parents. They have been confessing deep hatred, but now they weep and repent! This will spread all through the land because God has promised to restore parents and children.

Because of what I see coming, I am so excited I can hardly write these words. Unknown, unassuming, humble young men and women of God are being miraculously touched and anointed. They have been given a supernatural mission to "Go forth—and restore! For the day of the Lord has come. The cankerworms of drugs and alcohol are no longer permitted to eat away at the life of the youth. God will destroy the cankerworms."
