ARE WE ALL TALK?

ARE WE ALL TALK?

Faith without works is dead (James 2:20 KJV).

An evangelist told of his mother-in-law’s concern for his safety as he traveled thousands of miles each year. She had read statistics which explained that, per passenger mile traveled, the airplane was the safest form of transportation. She told him of the comfort and speed of air travel and the time he would save. She sounded like the public relations office of a major airline. Yet that lady had never been on an airplane — and refused to ride in one!

Some people say they believe in Jesus Christ, but they have never "gotten on board the plane." They know about His life and death, His parables and teachings. They are convinced that He is really who the Bible says He is. But they have never surrendered their personal lives to His claims.

Parents tell their children not to smoke, all the while puffing away on cigarettes. They often send their children to Sunday school while they sleep late, play golf or work in the yard. We can best influence others when our walk matches our talk.

Life response: "Lord, help me to put ‘deeds’ to my faith."
