LOST? DON'T RUN
FASTER!
. . . for this thy brother was dead,
and is alive again; and was lost, and is found
(Luke 15:32
KJV).
Thomas Huxley, famous
disciple of
The horses lurched forward
and galloped at breakneck speed. After a time, Huxley realized they were going
in the wrong direction. Leaning forward, he shouted to the driver, "Do you know
where you're going?" Without looking back or slacking the pace, the driver
answered, "No, Your Honor, but I'm going as fast as I
can."
Sadly, that story is not
only an illustration of Huxley and his misguided followers, it portrays the
predicament of many today. Great speed toward an unknown
destination!
I can recall two times when
I was lost — once in a mountain wilderness and once in a large city. Both times,
I experienced a sensation of panic and a desire to run. I had no idea of where I
was or which way to go, but I wanted to go as fast as I
could.
In the hurry of modern
living, do you know where you are and where you are going? Or are you running
fast toward an unknown destination?
Life response: I will be sure that my destination is Heaven.
