MANY WAYS OR ONE WAY?

 

The Lord detests the way of the wicked but he loves those who pursue righteousness
(Prov. 15:9 NIV)

 

When I was a young ministerial student, I worked my way through college by serving as a night attendant at the state mental hospital. It was there I met Jack. I attempted several times to witness to him about the Lord Jesus Christ. on one occasion, we had a lengthy conversation about heaven, hell, and where we would spend eternity.

 

Jack was waiting for me the next day with a sheet of paper. In the center he had colored a bright red circle. A number of lines, drawn at different angles, were sketched from the edge of the paper to the red circle. Jack explained that the red circle represented heaven and the lines were what he believed to be the different ways to get to heaven.

 

"This line may be your way," he said, "through faith in Jesus Christ. But this may be my way, and this other line the Jewish way or the Muslim way. I really don't think it matters which way you take if you are sincere."

 

A short time later, Jack was transferred to a state prison. I never saw him again, but heard that one day he hanged himself in his cell. I wondered if he had found his way to heaven adequate.

 

Don't make that mistake! Jesus is the only way. It is a good way, a sure way.
