DON'T BE A WASTER
"Gather up the fragments that
remain, that nothing be lost"
(John 6:12 KJV).
Jesus multiplied the loaves
and fishes. He could have made more, but He did not want to waste that which
they already had. It is not wise or scriptural to waste any of the blessings God
has bestowed upon us.
It seems that extravagance,
rather than frugality, is a popular lifestyle in our society. But it is amazing
what can be accomplished by saving even small amounts. one pastor never made a
large salary in all his years of ministry. In fact, he lived on what must be
called the poverty level. But he and his wife were frugal, never borrowing
money. They educated their children, paid their tithe plus offerings and lived
simply, counting their pennies, saving what they could. When it was time to
retire, they had over a quarter of a million dollars in
savings!
Most people are impressed
with extravagance and, as a result, attempt to impress others. Expensive clothes, unnecessary
jewelry, big car, mansion — all designed to make the neighbors sit up and take
notice. But extravagance leads to waste and waste leads to want. Remember the
old adage, "Waste not, want not."
Life response: I will use the resources God has given to me wisely.
