ARE YOU AN HEIR?
In his great mercy he has given us
new birth . . . into an inheritance . . .
kept in heaven for you . . . (1
Pet. 1:3-4 NIV).
I would never have believed
that brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and other close relatives
could be so greedy about getting a share of someone else's wealth. But one day I
was called upon to mediate a family quarrel over the distribution of the
household possessions — and we hadn't even conducted the funeral service for
their departed relative yet!
Some attorneys are using
modern technology in the preparation of wills. Along with the legal documents,
they record the person reading his own will on a video tape recorder. After the
client's death, the lawyer simply plays the tape, and the family members see the
reading of the will by the deceased relative
You may never have been the
recipient of an inheritance. Don't feel too badly about that. The Apostle Peter
assures us that each of us will receive our share of a greater inheritance, one
that is "kept in heaven for you."
In order to become an heir,
you must be born into the family.
Life response: I will be sure of my inheritance because I will know for sure that I have been born again.
