God says, I will pour out my Spirit
on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see
visions, your old men will dream dreams (Acts 2:17).
EVERYONE IS
INVITED!
THE WORLD LOVES celebrities. It is a part of our
humanity that craves either to be famous or to get as close as possible to those
who are. Just watch TV for a short time and you’re bound to hear something like,
“Join us at 6:00 and find where Joe Celebrity went for a secluded
vacation!”
I always think, “Who cares?” The
fact is a lot of people do. It is a symptom of the search for meaning and
importance.
Sadly, the Church runs a close
second in the search for celebrity-ism. We drop names of well-known Christians
and mention our “humble” deeds. We put people who have done great things on
pedestals. Yet God is not nearly as impressed with us as we are. The wonderful
truth is that God has promised to pour out His Spirit on all people, not just
special ones. Men, women, young, old, servants—God has promised to fill us all!
The story of Pentecost is that the promise of God, life in Jesus Christ, is for
everyone everywhere. This is what makes it possible for us to look at each
other, no matter our station in life, our denomination, our possessions, or
importance, and call each other brothers and sisters in Christ. All of
us!

God is looking for people to show Himself through, not those who are looking for recognition of the results.
