God does not want us in hell

GOD DOES NOT WANT US IN HELL

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God
(Ps. 9:17 KJV).

Under an agreement between the United States and another nation, scores of prisoners were exchanged. The former American prisoners were then asked at a news conference to describe imprisonment in a foreign jail. No one gave a very high recommendation. one young lady told about the hardships she had endured, the physical abuse and the mental anguish.

"I can't describe it to you," she said. "It was . . . it was hell."

Hell is a common word in modern vocabularies. People use it freely, carelessly, as a comparison for anything unpleasant or miserable. Any hardship or misery may be referred to as "a living hell," or "hell on earth."

One of the peculiarities of this preoccupation with hell in our language is that so few people profess to believe in an actual hell. Satan is caricatured as a red imp with a long tail and a pitchfork, and hell is laughed off with little concern. Many people are convinced that a loving God will not send anyone to hell.

God's Word reveals that hell is a real place but that God loves us too much to want us to go there. He has provided His robe of righteousness for us to wear.

Life response: "Lord, help me to treat the subject of hell seriously.
And help me to do everything I can to keep people from going there."
