"COME, LORD JESUS!"
‘Because of the increase of
wickedness, the love of most will grow cold . . .’
(Matt. 24:12
NIV).
For many, the atmosphere in
our world is heavy with pessimism. Economic instability, political uncertainty,
the rise and fall of nations, strife between races and tribes, and the failures
of peace talks do not present a basis for hope. Many look to the United Nations,
and to elder statesmen and diplomats, to keep a civilized world from blasting
itself into annihilation.
Still others speculate
about a bright future. Robert Truax, former research chief at Aero General
Corporation, said some years ago that "by the year 2060, means will be
discovered to achieve earthly immortality." He also predicted a
God's Word says the
consummation of all things will be the second coming of Jesus Christ. No
Christian need wring his hands in fear. Jesus said that in the midst of
persecution, confusion, wars and rumors of wars, we are to take comfort in the
fact that He is
preparing to come back to earth again.
The Bible says, "Behold I
come quickly" (Rev. 22:12 KJV). And the heart of every Christian says, "Amen.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus" (v.20).
Life response: I will be encouraged, and not discouraged, by the "signs of the times."
