All who rely
on observing the law are under a curse…
The righteous
will live by faith (Galatians 3:10a, 11b).
FAITHFULNESS FROM THE
HEART
DO YOU KNOW PEOPLE
who still live
as though they are trying to earn their way to heaven? I see people who try to
create an impressive “faith resume” as though they will need to present a long
list of achievements to God in order to gain entrance to heaven. I try to
evaluate my own actions and motives to see whether I’m doing something out of
obedience to God or out of the desire to add one more thing to a spiritual list
to be referenced later.
These verses talk about Abraham and
the way he lived. He had incredible faith in God most of the time. He listened
when God told him to pack up and move his family to an unknown destination. He
listened when God asked him to offer his cherished son as a sacrifice. And every
time He lived by faith and did what God asked, he was blessed. He prospered and
Isaac’s life was spared. Abraham has been commended ever since for the way he
lived a faithful life, though commendation was not the reason he lived that way.
He wasn’t seeking praise; He was seeking to please the
Lord.
God wants us to have willing,
faithful hearts. He wants us to desire to please Him rather than to create a
long resume.

What is the motive of your heart? Be willing. Be faithful.
