Our steps and stops

 

오늘의 묵상 (시37:23~29)

 

 

23. 여호와께서 어떤 사람의 가는 길을 기뻐하신다면 그 사람의 발걸음을 굳게 붙잡아 주실 것입니다.

 

24. 비틀거릴지라도 넘어지지 않을 것입니다. 왜냐하면 여호와께서 그의 손을 붙잡고 계시기 때문입니다.

 

25. 내가 어려서부터 늙기까지 이제껏 살아오면서 여호와께서 의로운 사람을 내버려 두시는 것과 그들의 자녀들이 구걸하는 것을 보지 못했습니다.

 

26. 의로운 사람은 언제나 넉넉하여 다른 사람에게 나눠 주기를 좋아합니다. 그래서 그들의 자손들이 복을 받습니다.

 

27. 악한 일을 멈추고 착한 일을 하십시오. 그러면 여러분은 땅에서 영원히 살게 됩니다.

 

28. 왜냐하면 여호와께서는 올바른 사람을 사랑하시고, 신실한 사람들을 떠나지 앉으시기 때문입니다. 여호와께서 언제나 그들을 지키실 것입니다. 그러나 악한 자들의 자손들은 죽게 될 것입니다.

 

29. 의로운 사람들은 땅을 유산으로 받게 될 것이며 영원히 그 땅에서 살 것입니다.

 

 

 

 

 

OUR STEPS AND STOPS

 

 

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. (Ps. 37:23 KJV)

 

    

As we travel through life, we have so many opportunities. So, how do we decide which way to go? Do we check our road map, the Bible? Do we choose to follow hunches? Or, worse still, do we just make random choices without really thinking or praying?

    

Needless to say, we don't always understand the stops that come into our lives, but we pray and turn these over to Him. When my husband was killed in a car crash, our pastoral ministry ended. Why was a stop put there in our lives after God had opened this door of ministry? only God knows that, but we know that our steps and stops are in His hands, and we can trust Him to do what is best for us.

    

There was a consolidated high school being built in the school district where my husband was assistant superintendent (bivocational pastor). The district made the decision to put a plaque in the entrance of the new school in his memory and asked me if there was anything special I would like to have on the plaque. My response was, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” Maybe over these years that message has touched those who have paused to read it; I pray that it has.
