LOWER THOSE WALLS
It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. (Matt. 9:12)
Two men are stranded out on the ocean in a raft. One keeps pointing at the other and saying in a mocking tone, “Man, you are so lost.”
The walls we build around ourselves are just as ridiculous. We should all be on the same team, but instead we often break up into small fragments based on our own ideas of who is good enough to be on our team.
Why didn't the Pharisees get Jesus? They were smart guys. They studied. They knew the law. So why weren't they the first to dance with joy and embrace the Messiah?
It was because they had built walls. They had their own team established, and the walls they built around their hearts were made of bricks created on the absolute certainty that they were in the right and everyone else was wrong. Those kinds of bricks make for tough walls.
The two men out on the raft are both in the same boat.
So are we. There is not one who is righteous. Not one. Our common dependence on the righteousness of Christ is what defines our team, and while we could all cling to that and rely on Christ together, too often we are found standing and shouting that we are OK, looking down at those who are not.

Avoid the yeast of the Pharisees, and instead be broken together.
