Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
THE DEFENDANT WAS CALLED to the witness stand. The prosecuting attorneys had presented their case, and now the accused man would give his testimony. His calm appearance showed no signs of stress or worry. When his attorney asked him why he seemed so relaxed, he said, "Because I know I am totally innocent of these charges. I have heard the accusations made against me, and they are absolutely groundless. I believe the judge will realize I did not commit this crime, and I have no reason to fear his verdict." Paul was very familiar with being falsely accused and taken to the local officials. Despite lying accusers and religious leaders with evil intentions, Paul was able to confidently stand before the officials in the sight of God, knowing he was guiltless and his motives and actions were pure. We, too, can stand boldly before our Judge when we know we have lived according to His Word. We do not need to fear any lies or accusations Satan may bring against us because Jesus' death removed our guilt and we are forgiven. The judge banged his gavel and declared the defendant "Not guilty!" We can be assured our Judge also recognizes innocence, and He proclaims His children "Not guilty!"
