After the Storm

 오늘의 말씀

 

시편 107:28-31 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

28. 그 때에 그들이 고통 중에 여호와께 부르짖었습니다. 이 때도 주께서 그들을 구해 내셨습니다.

Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses.

 

29. 여호와께서 폭풍우에게 속삭이시고 풍랑을 잠재우셨습니다. 바다의 파도가 잠잠해진 것입니다. 

He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed.

 

30. 바다가 잔잔해지자 그들이 즐거워했으며, 여호와께서 그들이 바라던 항구로 그들을 인도하셨습니다. 

 Then they were glad because they were quiet, so He guided them to their desired haven.

 

31. 여호와의 변함없는 사랑에 대해 감사하십시오. 사람들을 위해 행하신 그분의 놀라운 일들에 대해 감사하십시오. 

Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, And for His wonders to the sons of men!

 

 

 FOR SEVERAL HOURS friends and neighbors anxiously waited in the community shelter as the hurricane roared outside. The frightening sounds of the powerful winds, the eerie darkness caused by the loss of electricity, and the drumming of water against the walls created a fear that filled the shelter. Finally the winds calmed and the water retreated. Everyone cautiously moved outside to view the devastated town that had been so vibrant just the day before. Down the street, people were gathering near the remains of a church, giving thanks to God for their safety and crying out for His help in the days ahead. Jesus' disciples knew the fear and panic a strong storm brings. As the boat rocked and tossed on the water, they knew they could run to Jesus for help and safety. Jesus, calmly asleep in the stern, woke up when His disciples called to Him. Standing up, then, He commanded the wind and rain and to be still. Just knowing Jesus was nearby gave the disciples hope that the storm would not overtake them, and if they could just get to Him all would be well. We face many kinds of storms, physical, emotional, spiritual, and, yes, storms of nature. But God has promised to always be with us. If we will call on Him, He will hush the seas and still the storms in our lives.
