Being Salt in the Workplace

 오늘의 말씀

 

마태복음 5:10-12 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

10. 의롭게 살려고 하다가, 박해를 받는 사람은 복이 있다. 하늘 나라가 그들의 것이다.

Blessed are those who have been presecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

 

11. 사람들이 나 때문에 너희를 모욕하고 박해하고 온갖 나쁜 말을 할 때, 너희에게 복이 있다. 

Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 

 

12. 기뻐하고 즐거워하여라. 하늘에서 너희의 상이 크다. 너희보다 먼저 살았던 예언자들도 이처럼 박해를 받았다. 

 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

   

 

   MOST OF US have been falsely accused or been the victims of gossip or slander. It seems to go with being "in" the world. I once worked as a secretary in a local machine shop. Part of my job was to go out into the work area every day to collect invoices from the various department heads. When I gently remarked to one that I didn't care for the illicit pictures that lined his area of work, he immediately began calling me names. I was being "asinine" and "miss goody-two shoes" to name a few. I quickly realized I was unprepared for the battle I had started. In the midst of the name-calling, I was feeling strong on the inside because I knew the behavior was not of God, but on the outside my flesh was weak and quivery. I was too young in the Word to know that I could rejoice and be exceedingly glad. I just wanted to run and get away from the false accusations. Jesus tells us we are the salt of the earth. In my spiritual immaturity, I was being a little bit too salty in this situation. Now much older and wiser, I praise God for teaching me to pray and to feed on His Word before tackling the problems I face.
