A BIG MISTAKE

 

"How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?" (Hebrews 2:3 NIV).

 

Have you ever made a mistake?

 

Someone said, "The man who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything." You probably know someone who feels his calling in life is to uncover the mistakes in everything.  one editor explained away the mistakes that crept into his publication with this notice: "If you find any mistakes, please consider that they appear for the benefit of those readers who always  look for them.  We try to print something for everyone."

 

Most of our mistakes are unimportant and easily corrected.  Some of our mistakes, however, have long-lasting and tragic results.

 

The worst mistake anyone can make is to neglect the salvation of his or her soul.   People first make the mistake of disregarding their conscience.  Then they make the mistake of discounting the consequences of sin.  Then they find it easy to discard their salvation. 

 

This salvation is a great salvation because it is the only salvation.  It is also great because of its tremendous price - it took the life of God's only Son.   This salvation is great because it reaches to the lowest, is open to the least, and leaves no one out.  It is great because it saves us from sin and prepares us for heaven.

 

Don't make the mistake of neglecting it!
