LEARN TO TRUST

Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things’
(Matt. 6:32 NKJV).

Dr. E. Stanley Jones tells about a poor man who had an overnight guest. As he showed his visitor to the humble bedroom in the hayloft, the poor man said, "If there is anything else you want, let us know, and we'll show you how to get along without it."

Our children sometimes compared our living standard with that of businessmen and professional people in the churches we pastored. They would ask, "Are we poor?" We always answered, "No, we're not poor, we're rich! We have each other, love and God. What more would you want in life?"

During a dry spring in Indiana some years ago, I watched the farmers work their fields and plant their crops. But despite all the things they were able to do with equipment and hard work, they could not produce the rain. We are much more dependent on God and His provision than many will admit.

Yet, why be anxious about those things that your Heavenly Father knows you have need of?

Some railroad workers in England found a bird's nest under one of the rails. The little thrush sat peacefully on her eggs, undisturbed by the roar of the trains above her.

Like that thrush, the child of God has learned the simple reality of trust.

Life response: "Father, I bring my needs to you in childlike trust."
