COMPLETE IN CHRIST
Stand firm in all the will of God .
. .
(Col. 4:12 NIV)
When I was a boy, one of
our favorite family pastimes was piecing together beautiful jigsaw puzzles. But
before we would begin, we would always check to be sure all of the pieces were
present. Even a thousand-piece puzzle was counted to be sure it was complete.
There were five children in a rather small house. Since everyone would get into
the puzzle building, sometimes one or two pieces would get lost. No matter how
beautiful the picture, it was always spoiled for me if one piece was
missing.
I think God must feel like
that when He looks at the human family. Having created man in His own perfect
image, He now sees incompleteness.
Thousands of people admit
they are unhappy. Economic security, recreation, pleasure, a good community to
live in — none of these things has brought the peace and happiness they are
looking for. The reason is that man was created in the image of God, and he
cannot find complete rest, complete happiness, or complete peace until he finds
himself in God.
"Ye are complete in him,"
Paul says (Col. 2:10 KJV). only Christ Jesus offers complete forgiveness from
sin and complete freedom from its power.
Life response: Do I have a feeling of completeness in Christ?
