Heroic Sacrifice

 오늘의 말씀

 

창세기 22:15-18 (쉬운성경, NASB)

 

15. 여호와의 천사가 두 번째로 하늘에서 아브라함을 불렀습니다.

Then the angle of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven,

 

16. 천사가 말했습니다. "여호와께서 말씀하셨다. '네가 하나밖에 없는 아들을 아끼지 않고 나에게 바치려 했으므로, 맹세코 내가 너에게 한 가지 약속을 해 주겠노라. 

and said, "By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son,

 

17. 내가 분명히 너에게 복을 주고 또 많은 자손을 줄 것이다. 네 자손은 하늘의 별처럼 바닷가의 모래처럼 많게 될 것이며, 네 자손은 원수의 성들을 정복하게 될 것이다. 

  indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies.     

 

18. 네가 나에게 복종하였으므로, 네 자손을 통해 땅 위의 모든 나라들이 복을 받을 것이다." 

 "In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."

 

 

 

 IN THE STORY of Spider-Man, unknown Peter Parker gives up the chance to marry the girl of his dreams, Mary Jane Watson. He does this in order to protect her from any villain that might harm her if she were known as the wife of his alter ego, the crime-fighting Spider-Man. Later, when Spider-Man rescues Mary Jane from a villain's attack, she discovers Peter's secret identity. The two are finally brought together. Because Peter was willing to sacrifice his love for Mary Jane, he was eventually able to save her. What are you willing to sacrifice for the greater good of serving God? Abraham was willing to give his son, Isaac, the child promised to him in his old age. Christians in areas of the world that suffer persecution are willing to give up their lives for the sake of Christ. What about us, the ones living in a country with religious freedom? Would we give up a better-paying job, some luxuries, or free time in order to carry out God's mission? God has promised to bless us when we follow Him. It is surprising what God can do through us and how He will reward us when we are willing to sacrifice ourselves for Him.
