그분은 전쟁을 쉬게 하십니다 (HE MAKES WARS TO CEASE)

“그가 땅 끝까지 전쟁을 쉬게 하심이여...”(시편 46:9).

영혼의 전투로 인해 부서지고 찢어진 하나님의 자녀에게 얼마나 반가운 소식인지요! 내 영혼의 전쟁은 그분의 전쟁이며 오로지 그분만이 끝낼 수 있습니다. 나의 사랑하는 아버지는 육이나 마귀가 나를 괴롭혀 내가 패하도록 허용하지 않으실 것입니다. 내 전쟁은 야고보에 의해 명확하게 정의되어 있습니다. 그는 이렇게 기록했습니다:

“너희 중에 싸움이 어디로부터 다툼이 어디로부터 나느냐 너희 지체 중에서 싸우는 정욕으로부터 나는 것이 아니냐”(야고보서 4:1). 이 정욕들은 탐욕, 자존심과 질투를 포함합니다.

전 시대를 통해 하나님의 거룩한 자들은 동일한 질문을 던졌습니다. “나의 내부에서 벌어지는 정욕의 전쟁이 내 생전에 과연 끝날 것인가?” 이것은 오늘날 주님을 온전히 사랑하는 사람들이 묻는 질문과 동일한 것이 아닙니까?

그에 대한 답변은, 물론, 이 전쟁은 끝나야만 하고, 끝날 것이며 이제껏 알지 못했던 가장 큰 평강이 필연적으로 뒤따를 것입니다. 그러나 어떻게 전쟁이 끝나며, 누가 끝을 냅니까? 그것이 만일 나의 전투이며 끝내는 것이 나의 의무라면 하나님이 나에게 방법을 보여주셔야만 합니다. 만약 그것이 진실로 그분의 전투이면, 그분의 시간에 그분의 방법으로 그분이 끝내셔야만 하고 싸움이 진행되는 동안 내내 그분이 나를 사랑하심을 알므로 인내하도록 인내심을 주셔야만 합니다.

야고보가 사용한 헬라어는 stratenomai 인데 육적인 성향에 대항하는 전투, 전쟁에 임한 군인을 암시합니다. 이 말은 stratia 라는 어근에서 나왔는데 큰 무리, 군대 진영을 의미합니다. 다윗이 우리를 대항하여 진을 친 무리에 대해 언급하지 않았습니까? 우리의 육적인 성향들은 우리 마음을 두려움과 불신으로 공격함으로써 우리의 믿음을 파선시키고자 우리를 잠식하고 혼란에 빠뜨리기로 작정한 군대, 사악한 무리입니다.

다윗이 시편 46:9에서 사용한 전쟁이란 말의 히브리 원어를 살펴보면, 매우 기뻐할 이유가 있게 됩니다. milchamah 는 ~을 먹고 살다, 소진하다, 게걸스레 먹다, 라는 의미입니다.

성경이 실제로 여기에서 우리에게 말씀하시는 것은 오로지 경이로울 따름입니다. 하나님은 대적이 우리를 소진해버리고 우리를 삼키는 것을 중지시킬 것입니다. 그분은 더 이상 정욕이 우리를 먹이로 삼거나 우리를 이기도록 허용하지 않으실 것입니다. 하나님은 우리의 정욕의 전쟁을 그치게 하실 것입니다. 이것은 하나님의 전쟁이며 그분은 절대로 패하지 않으십니다.

 

 

"He maketh wars to cease..." (Psalm 46:9).

What welcome news to the child of God shattered and torn by warfare in the soul! The battle in my soul is his battle, and he alone can end it. My loving Father will not permit the flesh or the devil to bully me into defeat. My war is clearly defined by James, who wrote:

"From whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? (James 4:1). These lusts include covetousness, pride and envy.

Throughout the ages, holy men of God have asked the same question, "Will the lust-war in me ever end while I am alive?" Is that not the same question being asked today by those who love the Lord completely?

The answer, of course, is that the war must and will end, and it will inevitably be followed by the greatest peace ever known. But how does the war end, and who ends it? If it is my battle and my obligation to end it, God must show me how. If it is truly his battle, then he must end it in his time and way—and give me patience while the fighting goes on, knowing he loves me through it all.

The Greek word used by James is stratenomai, which suggests a battle against carnal tendencies; a soldier at war. It is derived from stratia, which means a host, an army encamped. Didn't David speak of hosts encamped against us? Our carnal inclinations come against us as an army, an evil host determined to undermine and keep us in turmoil in hopes of shipwrecking our faith by attacking our minds with fear and unbelief.

If you study the Hebrew word for war used by David in Psalm 46:9, it becomes a cause of great rejoicing. It is milchamah which means to feed on, consume, and devour.

What the Word is actually saying to us here is simply marvelous: God is going to stop the enemy from consuming us, from devouring us. He will no longer permit lust to feed on us or overcome us. Be encouraged! God will cause our lust-war to cease. This is God’s battle—and he never loses.

 

 

「祂止息刀兵…」(诗46：9)

这信息是神那被战役蹂躏，心中破碎的儿女所何等欢迎的！我灵里的战役就是祂的战役，惟独祂能使之止息。我慈爱的父神绝不容许肉体或魔鬼来欺压我，令我失败。雅各已为我的战役下了清楚的定义：

「你们中间的争战鬥殴，是从那里来的呢？不是从你们百体中战鬥之私慾来的麽？」(雅4：1)

这些私慾包括贪婪、骄傲、和嫉妒的心。历代以来，圣洁的神人都发出了同样的问题：「在我有生的年日里，我里面私慾上的争战会否停止呢？」难道这不就是那些全然爱主的人如今都同样发出的问题吗？

当然，答案就是战役必须且将会止息；而随之而来，在所难免的，就是前所未有的大平安。然而，战役将如何停止，有谁会将之了结呢？这若是我的战役，我且有责任将之了结，神就必须显示我该如何行事。若这战役确实是在乎祂，祂就必须按照祂自己的时间与方法，将之了结 – 且当争战继续下去时，赐我耐性。我晓得祂在这过程当中仍然爱我。

雅各所用的希腊字就是Stratenomai，意味著与属肉体的倾向作战，并一名正在打仗的兵丁。这字乃源自stratia，意思就是一支将旅，一队已紮营的军队。大卫不曾说到那些围困我们的敌军吗？我们属肉体的倾向有如一队军队一般，来攻击我们。邪恶的军旅存心要削弱我们，使我们终日不宁。牠们更为要使我的的信心搁浅，而以恐惧和不信的心来攻击我们的头脑。

你若查考大卫在诗篇46：9所用有关战役的字，你就会欢呼起来。这就是milchamah，其意思就是吃喝、耗尽、并吞噬。

真道在此对我们所说的实在奇妙：神必阻止仇敌，免得牠耗尽吞噬我们。祂再也不会容许邪情私慾来蚕食我们，或胜过我们。务要受鼓舞！神必使我们情慾上的战役止息。这是神的战役 – 祂且绝不失败。
