LIFE'S AN ADVENTURE

 

I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing
Christ Jesus my Lord (Phil. 3:8 NIV).

 

D. L. Moody was once describing the leap of faith. "If I stood at the bottom of the stairs in the dark and said to my little girl, 'Jump and Daddy will catch you,' she might say, 'But, Daddy, I'm afraid.' I would assure her, 'It's all right. I'm here and I will catch you.' She would jump, trusting me. Faith is like that. It's a leap into the dark."

 

Someone commenting on Mr. Moody's statement took exception to it and said, "Faith is not a leap into the dark, but a leap from the dark into the light." And it is that, but for the one who has not yet made the jump, it looks frightening. It is a risk.

 

Sometimes the Christian life has been portrayed as flat and unexciting. According to the TV commercials the only life worth living, the life with gusto, is the sinful life. As a result of this misunderstanding, many run away from Christ. In his poem "The Hound of Heaven," Francis Thompson tells of running away from Christ: "For I was sore adread, lest having Him/I should have naught else beside."

 

Satan lies when he says Jesus takes away everything that makes life worth living. only Jesus can give abundant life and fill the heart with peace and joy.
